Can you beat Chef Shane’s team??

Join us on Sunday, January 28 from 1-4 pm for our 2nd Annual Beat Chef Shane: Chili Edition Throwdown! plus! texas pete will be joining us for some spiced up fun!

Amateur chili cooks from all over are invited to cook their best chili to beat Chef Shane’s famous pub chili recipe from Foothills Brewing’s Brewpub. Bring it hot, bring it mild, with or without beans!

This year’s categories will include traditional pub chili, Texas chili, white chili, and vegetarian chili!

The overall winner will receive a cash prize, a framed trophy, a large Foothills Growler ($75 value), and much more!

Our panel of judges includes Mary Haglund from Mary’s Breakfast Of Course, Algenon Cash from Eat Drink Triad, Tanya Rivera from WFMY 2 News, “The Mayor of Winston” James Douglas and Michael Hastings from The WS Journal!

Don’t want to compete? Join us to eat! Wristbands will be sold the day of for $5 for chili tasting and voting.

*This event is for amateurs only; no restaurants, businesses, or promotions allowed*

How to enter as a chili cook (must sign up before January 25. 2024):

Pay $20 to enter ($15 if you competed last year), price will move to $25 from Jan. 18-25. Entries close on Jan. 25.
Bring your own heating element (Foothills will run power.) can be a camp stove or crockpot.
Bring your own table. Give your chili a name! Provide a list of possible allergies. Foothills will provide a serving cup for tasting.
Bring enough chili for around 200 people *to taste* – roughly 2 large crock pots worth!

The overall winner and people’s choice winner will receive a cash prize! Individual category winners will receive Foothills gift cards!

How to be a chili taste tester:

Pay $5 to receive a wristband (YOU MUST HAVE A WRISTBAND!)
Sign the waiver.
Grab a beer to sip on!
Enjoy a couple of bites of each chili!
Vote! People’s choice is a category!
